Jan Gustafsson

His stable Elo rating of over 2600 makes Jan Gustafsson, born in 1979, one of the very best German players. A native of Hamburg, his greatest success to date has been 2nd place in the Dortmund super-tournament of 2008. Gustafsson is very much a theory specialist and for that reason much sought after as a second, having worked, for example, with the Hungarian Peter Leko and the Danish team for the 2010 chess Olympiad. Gustafsson has also always demonstrated great talent in front of the camera, for example during his many appearances on ChessBase-TV.
